My name is Gayle Bykowicz. I was born on April 1st 1983 in Kenmore New York. When I turned five, I was obsessed with drawing. At age seven, I started making things out of odds and ends., I would use anything that could be formed into something. Paper, pipe cleaners, twist ties, aluminum foil, where my tools to make figures. During high school at Kenmore West, I was known as the loner. Kids knew me for being a great sketcher but that was about it. I kept things private. My father was diagnosed with cancer. My mother and father where going threw a divorce. At a point I was concentrating more on my artwork than my studies. It helped me escape from my problems. I pushed myself to work hard to get my diploma and move on. I studied drafting for 2 years (back when they used pencils, and rulers. That’s all changed thanks to computers) I’ve also gone to Erie 1 Harkness center for 2 years learning Computer Aided Drafting (CAD). Drafting wasn’t really what I was interested in, only that drawing was involved. When I finally graduated in 2001, I went to Erie community college North studying Art, painting, and acting for 2 years. My professor in painting taught the students that music plays a big part in creating works of art. depending on what kind of music I listen to, I would start drawing what I’d imagine that the music was playing along. If I listened to heavy metal, I’d imagine hideous dragons soaring in the sky, warriors battling in an all out war, mythical monsters. Stuff that gets the blood flowing. When I listen to soft calming music, I think of birds, angels, a forest of flowers. things that just feel good to think about. Music takes a big part for me to draw and create. My Goals My goals in life are to become an illustrator or a comic book designer. I'm also interested in becoming a monster makup artist. My Job: I am a kennelist at a small animal hospital in Oklahoma. I feed, clean. walk, and bath animals who are being treated for injuries or sickness, The people and the animals I work with bring me joy every day.
